Trail Cam Captures During A Long, Hot Summer.

It’s been a long, dry summer here in and around Cowra and on my place, up in the hills of Woodstock, there’s not much feed or water around. As depressing as that sounds, it’s also a great opportunity to see what’s hanging out at my place. I don’t have any stock but I do have some water troughs hanging around from when this place was grazed so I dragged this one to a good location, filled it up and popped a trail camera up. Here’s some of what dropped by on those 40-47C days.

A Closer Look at the Bugs in Our Backyards. A Citizen Science Project

A new Citizen Science project led by the Invastive Species Council & Invertebrates Australia launched on iNaturalist this year. Bugs in My Backyard Week ran from 17 – 23 November 2025 creating the first springtime snapshot of bugs across Australia. I joined the project as an individual this year to get a feel for the nuances and challenges around recording bug life.
