Kangarooby Landcare organised a tree planting day for the Glossy Black Cockatoo over at Gooloogong Public School

Back in May we set out to plant 1000 trees and understory species on private land in an area between Conimbla and Nangar National Parks, the idea being that eventually this landscape will re-connect, strengthening both local and regional connectivity across the Western Woodland Way. By the end of July we’d completed our mission and everything was looking great!

Over 300 trees & shrubs were planted at our third Glossy Black Cockatoo planting day. This event was a real family affair and with many hands making for light work, we were back in the shearing shed enjoying our sausage sizzle & cake in no time.

We’ve been out planting trees for the Glossy Black Cockatoo across a stretch of land from Conimbla to Nangar national parks. These plantings were in Eugowra & just outside of Manildra. We were planting She Oaks (Allocasuarina verticillata), Eucalypts and some complimentary understory species

Last weekend we celebrated Eucalyptus day with our neighbours Weddin Landcare & team at their community nursery with a bit of essential oil distillation. We’ve also focused on She Oaks this month and came to more deeply appreciate the role they play in bringing landsdcapes to life.
