Landcare in the Library Presents: Wondering about Wires?

One of the aspects of living in a rural community we enjoy is being surrounded by wildlife. However, things don’t always turn out so well when our fast-paced, mechanised world collides with theirs. Driving into the village from my place yesterday afternoon had me slow down to make way for two blue-tongue lizards-in-love, stop dead so that a brown snake could pass (yep, nobody was following close behind) and pull over to ensure a snake-necked turtle I just passed hadn’t been flipped by the vehicle travelling in the other direction. Luckily this time everyone was fine but what happens when it’s not.

Wires is a volunteer animal-rescue organisation that was established in 1985. It’s Australias largest rescue and rehabilitation charity that rescues and rehabilitates injured animals via a network of locally trained volunteers. A number of our Landcare members are also Wires carers – some only recently enrolled, others vetrans in rapid response animal carers. We invite you to come along to meet some of our local carers and have your Wires questions answered. Rumour has it, we’ll also have a bearded dragon joining us for the chat!

When: Thursday 26th November from 10-11.30am

Where: Cowra Library

Format: An informal chat/ meet-and-greet with your local Landcare Coordinators and Wires carers.

There’s no need to book but if you’d like more information about this event do get in touch at midlachlanlandcare @ gmail.com
